A native Philadelphian, Patty Jackson, was born on Monday, November 4th, 1963, and has entered her silver anniversary in broadcasting. She attended South Philadelphia Motivation High School and the American Academy of Broadcasting before embarking on her radio career at WSSJ in Camden, NJ, when it was owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Pat Delsi. Her diverse career has included country, urban and pop formats, including Power 99 FM and Q102. But, her warm and soulful voice found its true home with adult radio listeners on WDAS-FM. Patty is the reigning Queen of Mid-days from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday. Patty’s brand of realness has kept her audience connected throughout her 25-year broadcasting career.

Gary Coleman can finally rest in peace. The actor will be cremated, and his former manager has been placed in charge of his estate. Coleman’s ex-wife, Shannon Price, no longer has a say in what happens to her ex-husband. In a strange twist of events, Coleman’s former manager, Dion Mial, has been placed in charge of the Coleman estate. Over the past week Coleman’s ex-wife has been trying to get money selling deathbed photos of him on life support and after he died, giving tours of the home where Gary Coleman hit his head. She said she made the decision to pull the plug on him because it was time for him to go. He was brain dead, so there was no need to hang on. The Gary Coleman deathbed photos have been made public, and they are featured in the new issue of The Globe. In one of the photos, Shannon is seen posing and smiling while he is laying there with tubes coming out of his mouth. She got $10,000 for the photos. Shannon is in need of money. Coleman died broke, but that is not stopping Shannon from going after his yearly pension of $156,000, his truck and the house worth $300,000. Coleman’s attorneys are already asking her to return items she took from their home following his death.



Janet Jackson is in love. Her knight in shining armor is a young Arab. For the first time in her life, she is with a guy who pays for everything! He is younger, taller and richer than she is. Janet is currently on location with the Tyler Perry movie For Colored Girls. In other Jackson news, Alejandra Jackson who had children by Randy and Jermaine Jackson is giving Katherine Jackson a hard time. She has been asked to leave the Jackson estate with her children. Her children had been harassing Michael’s kids, so Katherine told Alejandra to make living arrangements somewhere else. Alejandra has been living off of Katherine Jackson for years. She doesn’t work, and now she has armed herself with a lawyer so she can continue getting money. Alejandra feels as though she and her kids are being left out since she doesn’t get money from either Randy or Jermaine.



The Jackson Family Foundation is gearing up for the first anniversary of the death of The King Of Pop Michael Jackson. A special event is being planned for his fans in Beverly Hills.



Basketball Star Dwayne Wade has won temporary custody of his two children. Wade is in a bitter divorce battle with his wife Siohvaughn. Siohvaughn is not taking the breakup well. She has been disobeying court orders, and has gone through nine lawyers. A new court date is set for July 19th. The Miami Heat star is currently dating Actress Gabrielle Union.



Victoria’s Secret Model Selita Ebanks is becoming quite of fan of baseball. Ebanks has been quietly seeing Phillies First Baseman Ryan Howard, and attending his games. She tweets how she loves the excitement of the ballpark and the fans. Ebanks has been a Sports Illustrated model, and she used to be engaged to Nick Cannon. Ebanks, 27, was discovered ten years ago at Great Adventure. Howard just signed a new deal with the Phillies worth $125 million.



Is Vivica A. Fox engaged? Auntie Viv has been dating a young party promoter, and she has been sporting a huge engagement ring.



Is Ne-Yo engaged? Sources say he popped the question to his longtime girlfriend.



We are going to work out our problems! Greg Leakes, the husband of Real Housewives Of Atlanta Star NeNe Leakes, says he made a mistake going public with his marital problems. He claims he and his wife have talked about their issues, and they will not be splitting up. Did NeNe’s fame get in the way? Greg is not ready to throw in the towel. He wants to save his marriage.



Desiree Rogers has landed on her feet. The Former White House Social Secretary is now a consultant with Ebony magazine. Rogers left the Obama administration earlier this year after she got caught up in a controversy over a White House security breach. In more Ebony magazine news, it was stated the magazine is not for sale and Amy DuBois Barnett, formerly of Honey magazine, has been named the magazine’s new Editor-In-Chief.



Kevin Eubanks is coming back home. Eubanks recently left his post as the bandleader for The Tonight Show and he’s being honored in Philly, his hometown. On June 17th, he’s getting a plague on the Philadelphia Alliance Walk Of Fame on South Broad Street. He’s also being honored on June 18th at Citizens Bank Park because that Friday, the 18th, it’s Sound Of Philly Night At The Phillies. The Phillies will be hosting The Minnesota Twins, and Eubanks is being honored along with Butterball, The Intruders, and Billy Paul. They will be getting the 2010 Phillies-Gamble & Huff Community Partnership Award. I will be the host for the pre-game festivities.



At the movies this week, it’s The Karate Kid with Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson. The 80’s TV’s classic The A-Team is coming to the big screen. The movie version stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper Jessica Biel and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson playing the Mr. T role of “B.A. Baracus.” The TV show made Mr. T a star, but he is not happy with the movie version saying it’s too graphic.



Marvin Isley of The Isley Brothers passed away last weekend after a long battle with diabetes. Isley was 56-years old and was part of the younger generation of the group. Marvin Isley played bass and sang background vocals for The Isley Brothers. He was also a member of Isley/Jasper/Isley. They were known for the hits Insatiable Woman and their number one song, Caravan Of Love.



One of the original Golden Girls died last week. Actress Rue McClanahan died last Thursday at the age of 76 after suffering a massive stroke. McClanahan won an Emmy for her role as “Blanche” on show, which is still popular in syndication. Before Golden Girls, McClanahan worked with two of her co-stars in previous series. She played Betty White’s “Aunt Fran” in the Carol Burnett spin-off Mama’s Family, and played Bea Arthur’s best friend “Vivian” in Maude. Last year, Bea Arthur died from cancer and Estelle Getty passed away in 2008. Betty White is the only surviving cast member of The Golden Girls.



Congratulations to Fantasia. She finally got her high school diploma. Fantasia had to drop out of school when she became pregnant with her daughter. Then she won American Idol. Fantasia says getting her G.E.D. was a dream come true. Her new album, Bittersweet, comes out next month.



Omarosa is back! Omarosa made a splash with the first season of The Apprentice, and now she has a new reality dating show. The TV villainess is looking for love on the new TV show Omarosa: The Ultimate Merger. Donald Trump is the executive producer, and one of the men romancing Omarosa is Singer Al B. Sure. The show debuts on TV ONE June 21st. It’s going to be interesting how Omarosa handles her new show since she is dating Actor Michael Clarke Duncan in private.



In a recent interview where he was dubbed “Mr. Oprah Winfrey,” Stedman Graham declared the city of Chicago doesn’t appreciate Oprah. He says the city doesn’t understand the value of who she is, or what she has done as a human being. Oprah has been a Chicago native for over 25 years. Once her show ends, she is moving west to California. Stedman says he will probably make the move with her.



Heidi Klum and Seal will be giving out love advice on their new Lifetime reality show. The married couple will be acting as love coaches.



Whitney Houston is not pregnant! But, she is gaining a lot of weight. Houston is still on her European tour, and fans continue to be disappointed with her weak vocals and singing out of tune. Sources say Houston is eating out of frustration and packing on the pounds. She also continues to wear tight clothing which accentuates her weight gain.



Jada Pinkett Smith is on the cover of Essence magazine. There are dual covers of Jada. One where she is nude, and one where she has clothes on. Jada says she did the nude photo shoot to celebrate the body beautiful issue.



Prince is gracing the cover of Ebony where he talks about his career and religion.



The Iversons are back together. Allen and Tawana have pledged to work out their differences: the gambling, the drinking and the jumpoffs. The former basketball star and his wife have five children, and are high school sweethearts.



Food Network Star Paula Deen had to fire her maid because the maid was stealing from her. The maid had worked for Deen less than a year, and during that time she stole over $10,000 in jewelry.



Morris Day And The Time are coming to Penns Landing Saturday, June 26th. It’s a free concert and fireworks as part of The Wawa Welcome America Festivities. On The Fourth Of July, it’s The Goo Goo Dolls, The Roots, Chuck Brown and Chrisette Michele on the Ben Franklin Parkway.



Bonnie Pointer of The Pointer Sisters is joining VH1’s Celebrity Rehab. Pointer, 59, has had a history of drug abuse for much of her life. Bonnie’s sister June passed away a few years ago. The Pointer Sisters are now made up of Ruth and Anita Pointer.



The Daytime Emmys air on June 27th, and this year they will be honoring TV Legend Dick Clark. Clark, 80, is known as America’s oldest teenager. From his work on American Bandstand to New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and the many shows he produced, he is a TV Icon. In 2004, Clark, suffered a stroke, and he rarely makes appearances.



Don’t forget to check out the new TBS series Are We There Yet. It airs Wednesday nights at 9pm. The show is very funny and stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half & Half). The TV show is based on the hit Ice Cube movie of the same name. Ice Cube is the Executive Producer of the TV show.



Venus Williams will be in town Thursday, July 8th signing copies of her new book, Come To Win. She will be at Borders in Center City.



Herbie Hancock has a new album coming out on the 22nd. The Imagine project features Chaka Khan, John Legend, Seal, Pink and Dave Matthews and India.Arie.



The Dell East is back and the lineup is incredible. The season kicks off July 12th. Get ready For Teena Marie, The Whispers, Keith Sweat, Marvin Sapp, War, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill and Marion Meadows. The Dell East is located at 33rd and Ridge.



Blair Underwood is a busy guy. As an author, he’s just released the latest installment of his detective novel series entitled From Cape Town With Love: A Tennyson Hardwick Novel. As an actor, Underwood returns to NBC this fall with the drama series The Event, in which he plays the President Of The United States.



Poet/Author Dr. Maya Angelou recently turned 82, and she is coming out with a new cookbook called Great Food All Day Long.



Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney was honored at The White House. McCartney received The Gershwin Prize For Popular Song from The Library Of Congress. Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae were among those honoring McCartney. He even sang his Beatles classic Michelle to First Lady Michelle Obama. The ceremonies will air on PBS July 28th.



The O’Jays will be profiled on the new season of the TV documentary series Unsung along with Teddy Pendergrass, Tammi Terrell and George Clinton. The new season kicks off this fall. Also get ready for K-Ci and JoJo of Jodeci fame. They are getting a reality show on TV One dealing with their lives, and how they have battled their addictions.



Mary J. Blige is coming out with a new line of sunglasses. The Melodies Line arrives in stores this fall. And speaking of Mary, filming starts this fall in France for the new Nina Simone movie. The Queen Of Hip Hop Soul will play the jazz legend who died in 2003.



Kem is back with a hot new song called Why Would You Stay. His new album, Intimacy, comes out July 13th.



Queen Latifah will be hosting The BET Awards on June 27th.



Jennifer Hudson is one busy lady. She has a new album coming out in September, and she’s being profiled on VH1’s Behind The Music. Hudson’s special will air June 28th, and it shows the ups and downs, tragedies and triumphs of her life. And, for the first time, she will talk about the triple murders of her mother, brother and nephew. She will also talk about her fiancé David Otunga and new baby boy, David, Jr. If that weren’t enough, this summer, she will be filming the new movie Winnie. Hudson stars as Winnie Mandela.



Chris Rock and Adam Sandler will be starring in a new comedy Grownups, which opens in theatres June 25th.



Get ready for the return of Dru Hill. Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz and new member Tao have a new reality show that will premiere on the Centric network June 28th, and they have a new album, Indrupendence Day, coming out July 27th.



To mark the anniversary of his passing, the latest book from E. Lynn Harris is being released. In My Father’s House arrives in bookstores June 22nd.



The Steve Harvey Radio Show is coming to TV. The BET network will be airing The Steve Harvey Radio Show on their Centric network starting this fall. Also, get ready for the return of the TV show The Game. The cancelled CW comedy is being revived on the BET network with the original cast.



Trey Songz and Monica are gearing up for a summer tour. Songz also has a new reality show debuting on BET on June 27th.



The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin and The King Of Pop Michael Jackson are going to be the new inductees into the Apollo Theatre Hall Of Fame. The ceremony takes place June 14th. Past inductees include Patti LaBelle, Quincy Jones and Ella Fitzgerald. Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony are also going to be honored that night with a humanitarian award. Jamie Foxx is hosting the event.



The 7th Annual West Oak Lane Jazz And Arts Festival is going to an all-jazz theme this year. Mark your calendar for June 18th -20th. Three days, two stages and it’s all free with Al Jarreau, George Duke, David Sanborn, Diane Reeves and Joey DeFrancesco, to name a few. This year will have a New Orleans theme.
