A native Philadelphian, Patty Jackson, was born on Monday, November 4th, 1963, and has entered her silver anniversary in broadcasting. She attended South Philadelphia Motivation High School and the American Academy of Broadcasting before embarking on her radio career at WSSJ in Camden, NJ, when it was owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Pat Delsi. Her diverse career has included country, urban and pop formats, including Power 99 FM and Q102. But, her warm and soulful voice found its true home with adult radio listeners on WDAS-FM. Patty is the reigning Queen of Mid-days from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday. Patty’s brand of realness has kept her audience connected throughout her 25-year broadcasting career.

The split between Oscar Winner Halle Berry and boyfriend Model Gabriel Aubry has hit a rough patch. Aubry has been unable to see his daughter Nahla. He wants to remain a full fixture in his daughter’s life. He refuses to give up his parental rights. Berry is planning to move to South Africa for three to four months to film a movie, and she wants to take her daughter with her. Well, Aubry says not so fast. He knows if she takes the child out of the country, he won’t see her for months. Sources say the two are trying to work this out, and Halle may have to pay him to be a caregiver for their daughter. Aubry may have to move to South Africa to care for Nahla while Halle works. In the meantime, he would like to spend more time with his daughter while they are in the states.


The New Season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta kicks off in September, and you will notice some changes. In addition to new cast members, you will see lots of plastic surgery. NeNe Leakes looks different. She reportedly had two nose jobs with the second one altering her look. NeNe, what have you done to your face? We have the pictures on “Patty’s Page” on our website WDASFM.com. She doesn’t look the same, and she refuses to admit she has had work done. NeNe, this is not a good look…… sorry.


Vanessa Williams will be a wicked new neighbor when she joins the cast of Desperate Housewives. Williams, fresh off of her Emmy nominated role in the now cancelled Ugly Betty, is coming to Wisteria Lane this fall.


The King Of Pop’s youngest brother is looking to cash in on his death. The one year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson is fast approaching, and his brother Randy says he wants to open Michael Jackson’s mausoleum to the public so fans can pay their respects. He’s hoping to turn it into a shrine like Graceland is for Elvis Presley. Now there is one big problem. What about the other remains in the mausoleum? I hear the family of screen legend Clarke Gable is upset because his body is next to Michael’s and they want no part of fan hysteria.


In more Jackson news, Dr. Conrad Murray has a June 14th court date. Dr. Murray has been charged with manslaughter in Michael Jackson’s death. Dr. Murray says he’s innocent, and he will have a cast of supporters by his side when he shows up in court. Friends, patients and church members from Houston and Las Vegas will converge on the courtroom in support of the doctor. Dr. Murray was The King Of Pop’s personal physician at the time of his death. It is believed that he administered the fatal dose of Propofol that led to Jackson’s death.


Queen Latifah will be hosting The BET Awards on June 27th. She is fantastic in her new movie Just Wright with Common. Speaking of The BET Awards, Jay-Z is leading the nominations, and Bieber fever will be in the house at the awards. Usher’s protégé, Justin Bieber, has been nominated for best new artist at The BET Awards.


Jennifer Hudson is one busy lady. She has a new album coming out in September, and she’s being profiled on VH1’s Behind The Music. Hudson’s special will air June 28th, and it shows the ups and downs, tragedies and triumphs of her life. And, for the first time, she will talk about the triple murders of her mother, brother and nephew. She will also talk about her fiancé David Otunga and new baby boy, David, Jr. If that weren’t enough, this summer, she will be filming the new movie Winnie. Hudson stars as Winnie Mandela.


Speaking of the movie Winnie, Terrence Howard is co-starring with Hudson in the movie. He will be playing Nelson Mandela. Howard’s pretty busy himself. He is also a newlywed. He recently married wife number three, L.A. Designer Michelle Ghent. Howard has also signed on to play Marvin Gaye when the story of his life comes to the big screen. This fall, Howard will be starring in the George Lucas movie Red Tails.


When will Alicia Keys reveal all the pregnancy and summer wedding news? We are going to have to wait. Her boyfriend, Music Producer Swizz Beatz, has a mad ex-wife (Mashonda), and she is demanding more money from him. Mashonda is doing everything to embarrass him. There will be no peace for this couple until the ex-wife calms down.


At the movies, it’s Shrek 4: Forever After featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonia Banderas and Cameron Diaz. Now speaking of Eddie Murphy, he says he is looking at a script for Nutty Professor III.


Chris Rock and Adam Sandler will be starring in a new comedy Grownups, which opens in theatres June 25th.


Terry McMillan has written a sequel to Waiting To Exhale. The new book, Getting To Happy, arrives in bookstores in September, but you can pick up the latest issue of Essence magazine, with Actress Taraji P. Henson on the cover, and check out an excerpt from the book.


Has Shaquille O’Neal found love with a record executive? O’Neal is no longer married to Shaunie, and sources say he has found love with Record Exec Lisa Ellis, who was rumored to be dating the very married Wyclef Jean and Politician Harold Ford. Ellis used to be Jean’s manager, but the fallout of a rumored affair cost her that job with him.


Changes are coming to American Idol next season. When the new season starts in January, Simon Cowell will be gone (still no word on who’ll be replacing him). The FOX network show has been on a ratings decline for years, and this year, there was no buzz on the show. In an effort to tighten things up, the Tuesday performance show will be 90 minutes and the Wednesday results show will only be 30 minutes.


Speaking of FOX, the network has cancelled The Wanda Sykes Show that aired on Saturday nights.


Get ready for the return of Dru Hill. Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz and new member Tao have a new reality show that will premiere on the Centric network June 28th, and they have a new album, Indrupendence Day, coming out July 27th.


Get well wishes go out to Saxophonist Boney James. James was hit by a suspected drunk driver. He suffered a fractured jaw, broken teeth and a gash on his chin that required 14 stitches.


It's Don Cheadle and Jamie Foxx and the TNT network. Jamie Foxx will be the executive producer of a new show entitled Miss Philly. The show will be based in Philadelphia, and centers around the city’s first female African American police commissioner. Don Cheadle is also producing an untitled project for the network. His show will be a medical drama from the 70’s.


Jay-Z is coming out with another greatest hits album this summer.


Congrats to TV’s Neicy Nash, she has been nominated for two daytime Emmys as producer and host of the Style network show Clean House. Nash is also the cover girl for the new edition of Ebony magazine.


The Bravo network has replaced Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) on their Bravo fashion show. Rowland is being replaced by fashion icon and Model Iman. Rowland hosted the show with Isaac Mizrahi.


Filming starts this fall in France for the new Nina Simone movie. The Queen Of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige will play the jazz legend who died in 2003.


Tyler Perry was the victim of credit card fraud. Someone stole his credit card information and ran up charges to the tune of $30,000. Authorities believe they will be able to track down the thieves because they purchased a lot of airline tickets.

Get ready for the return of The Dell East. Yes, The Dell East at 33rd and Ridge Avenue! After a two-year absence, The Dell East is returning with a new season. The kickoff is July 12th with The Mighty, Mighty O’Jays. As soon as we find out the rest of the lineup, we will let you know. There will be 7 other shows this season.


Speaking of The O’Jays, they will be profiled on the new season of the TV documentary series Unsung along with Teddy Pendergrass, Tammi Terrell and George Clinton. The new season kicks off this fall. Also get ready for K-Ci and JoJo of Jodeci fame. They are getting a reality show on TV One dealing with their life, and how they have battled their addictions.


Maxwell says he can’t wait to hit the road with Jill Scott. He says it’s a dream come true. In a recent interview, he also revealed that he is going to have new music, a new album released by next February. Now speaking of new music, Kem is back with a hot song called Why Would You Stay.


To mark the anniversary of his passing, the latest book from E. Lynn Harris is being released. In My Father’s House arrives in bookstores June 22nd.


Fantasia has a release date for her new album. Bittersweet arrives in stores on July 15th.


LL Cool J is back with another fitness and lifestyle book. LL Cool J’s Platinum 360 Diet And Lifestyle Book talks about his plan for staying in shape and being healthy. LL Cool J is doing his thing as an actor (NCIS: L.A.), a businessman and a rapper.


The Sex And The City movie opens in theatres May 27th. Yes, Carrie and the girls are back! Will Carrie cheat on “Mr. Big?” That’s the big question in this sequel. The movie soundtrack comes out on May 25th and features music from Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Erykah Badu.


The VH1 Hip Hop Honors is set for June 7th. This year’s honorees include Producer Jermaine Dupri, Rapper Master P and “Uncle Luke” himself, Luther Campbell.


Will Smith is returning to the Men In Black franchise, this time in 3-D. The new movie will also reunite him with co-star Tommy Lee Jones and hits theatres May 2011.


Actress Victoria Rowell is back with her latest book Secrets Of A Soap Opera Diva. Rowell is best known for her work on the soap opera The Young And The Restless, where she played “Drucilla.” Will she ever return to the legendary number one daytime show? So far, producers have expressed no interest in bringing back Rowell, but a casting call recently went out for an African American woman to play a character loosely based on “Drucilla.”


The Steve Harvey Radio Show is coming to TV. The BET network will be airing The Steve Harvey Radio Show on their Centric network starting this fall. Also, get ready for the return of the TV show The Game. The cancelled CW comedy is being revived on the Bet network with the original cast.


Trey Songz and Monica are gearing up for a summer tour. Songz also has a new reality show debuting on BET on June 27th.


The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin and The King Of Pop Michael Jackson are going to be the new inductees into the Apollo Theatre Hall Of Fame. The ceremony takes place June 14th. Past inductees include Patti LaBelle, Quincy Jones and Ella Fitzgerald. Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony are also going to be honored that night with a humanitarian award.


It will be the reunion of Run DMC at the 3rd Annual Roots Picnic. The event is happening June 5th at Penns Landing. This will be their first performance since the death of Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in 2002.


The new version of the Karate Kid hits theatres on June 11th with Jaden Smith, Taraji P. Henson and Jackie Chan.


The 7th Annual West Oak Lane Jazz And Arts Festival is going to an all-jazz theme this year. Mark your calendar for June 18th -20th. Three days, two stages and it’s all free with Al Jarreau, George Duke, David Sanborn, Diane Reeves and Joey DeFrancesco, to name a few. This year will have a New Orleans theme. The Bynum Brothers are back with a new venture. They own Warmdaddy’s on Columbus Boulevard and had the old Zanzibar Blue in Center City. Their latest project is called RELISH at 7152 Ogontz Avenue.
