A native Philadelphian, Patty Jackson, was born on Monday, November 4th, 1963, and has entered her silver anniversary in broadcasting. She attended South Philadelphia Motivation High School and the American Academy of Broadcasting before embarking on her radio career at WSSJ in Camden, NJ, when it was owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Pat Delsi. Her diverse career has included country, urban and pop formats, including Power 99 FM and Q102. But, her warm and soulful voice found its true home with adult radio listeners on WDAS-FM. Patty is the reigning Queen of Mid-days from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday. Patty’s brand of realness has kept her audience connected throughout her 25-year broadcasting career.

As we mark the one year anniversary of the death of The King Of Pop, the mystery life of the Jackson kids is being revealed. Michael’s kids spend hours listening to their dad’s music, and they have no friends. They don’t go to school now, but they will be attending a private college in the fall. Prince is into movies and Paris loves music. All the children including Blanket (no one knows who his mother is) spend time with Debbie Rowe, the biological mother of Prince and Paris. Katherine Jackson revealed plans about her new book Never Can Say Goodbye. The book is being sold online at jacksonsecretvault.com. Katherine said she did the book out of love for her son, who was misunderstood. Katherine says she did not do it for money. Meanwhile, the lawyer for the Jackson estate are angry with Katherine. They accused the matriarch of the family of getting involved in business deals with shady characters. The shady and questionable characters are friends of Joe Jackson. Joe Jackson has not been able to make any money from his son’s death (he was left out of the will), so now he’s planning to file a wrongful deathsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray was Jackson’s personal physician at the time of his death. It was Murray who administered the propofol that led to Jackson’s heart failure. Papa Joe is claiming that Murray was in a strip club drinking hours before Michael’s death.

Guess who’s crying broke? It’s Former Giants Star Tiki Barber. Barber retired from the NFL, and his life has fallen apart. Earlier this year, he made headlines when he dumped his wife of 11years while she was 8 months pregnant. The couple already had two kids, but Barber wanted to spend his time with a young intern. Barber use to work for The Today Show, but the scandal cost him his job. Now he is claiming in court he can’t afford to pay the divorce settlement because he spent all of his TV money. I wonder how long the new girl is going to stay around now that he’s broke? Hmmmmmmm!

At one time in his career, he was known as the best defensive player in NFL history, but now a grand jury has indicted him on a rape charge. One time NFL Great Lawrence Taylor says he’s innocent of charges of rape and sexual abuse. The indictment follows his early May arrest after being found with a 16-year old girl. The girl was paid $300 to have sex with Taylor. Taylor was charge with patronizing a prostitute and endangering the welfare of a child. Taylor arraignment is July 13th. What a fall from grace it has been for Taylor. He rebounded from his scandalous drug past after appearing on Dancing With The Stars. Now, he faces jail time.

After a bitter two year court battle, a divorce is near for Dwayne Wade and his wife Siovaughn. After the Miami Heat star took up with Actress Gabrielle Union, his wife fought him bitterly in court. She made wild accusations, went through nine lawyers and now Dwayne has temporary custody of their kids because of her courtroom antics. Wade has the kids age 3 and 8. Once the divorce becomes final this week, they will head back to court to split custody and assets. The Wades split up right after the birth of their youngest child.

Oprah Winfrey is getting star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame next year. Winfrey is in good company with The Muppets, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Danny DeVito, Penelope Cruz and Gwyneth Paltrow. In other Oprah news, she recently gave the staffers at O magazine a $10,000 and an I Pad for their hard work and dedication.

Will there be a boxing match next year between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield? Don’t be surprised at 44-year old Tyson and 48-year old Holyfield because they both need the money. They are broke.

Allen Iverson is planning to return to the NBA. He’s 35 now, and he is ready to resume his career. Iverson has been working out, and he is filming a new documentary on his life called Deconstructing Allen Iverson. Iverson made a comeback with The Sixers in December. Then he took a leave in March to care for his ailing daughter. His daughter is doing better now.

Anita Baker says she should have a new album ready for release later this year. She says working on the album helped her get through a painful and costly divorce.

Desperate Housewives is getting some flavor in its new season in the form of Vanessa Williams. Her character is named “Renee Jones,” and the character is a woman with secrets. She is an old college friend of “Lynette.” The woman she plays is married to a hunk with no children.

Manute Bol, the tallest player in the NBA, died over the weekend. Bol played in the NBA from 1986-94. He played in Philly with The Sixers. Bol was one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. He was known for his charity work, and the millions he gave to his native country of Sudan. Bol was 47 when he died from a skin infection and kidney failure.

Garry Shider, longtime musical director of Parliament Funkadalic, died last weekend. Shider was the one who wore the diapers on stage. He was 56, and he died from kidney and brain cancer.

Gary Coleman was finally cremated last week, and recent court orders reveal he had to take a restraining order out against his ex wife Shannon Price. Apparently, Price had a history of abuse against Coleman. Price has been complaining about not being allowed to see Coleman’s body before was cremated. She says he left a will leaving her everything, but a judge is not buying it. The former child star passed away almost a month ago after injuring his head in a mysterious fall.

Angela Lowe, the widow of Sean Levert, was recently awarded a multi-million dollar settlement. Levert died in Cleveand prison. He was in prison for non-payment of child. The medical examiner believers his addiction to a drug Xenax played some par.

I had a chance to catch up with Jill Scott. She’s finishing up her tour with Maxwell, and she talked about her new album. The Light Of The Sun is the name of the project, and she hopes to have it out before the end of the year. She will be returning to HBO in The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, and she is making plans to resume filming in Africa. Jill also says she is looking forward to touring in support of her new album. She squashed rumors about trouble with Maxwell. She says they are the best of buddies and are having a wonderful time on their tour.

Shaunie O’Neal has a hit on her hands with VH1’S Basketball Wives. There will be a second season, and she is also planning to do a spinoff featuring the wives of football players called Football Wives. I had a chance to talk to Shaunie, and she told me there will be actual wives on the second season of basketball wives. She caught some flak because the majority of women were just baby mommas.

Denzel Washington’s latest movie, The Book Of Eli is available on DVD.

Tyler Perry plans to hit the road right after he finishes filming the movie For Colored Girls with Whoopi Goldberg and Janet Jackson. Tyler will be touring the country in his latest Madea production Madea’s Big Happy Family.

At the movies, its Chris Rock and Adam Sandler will be starring in a new comedy Grownups. Also, Toy Story III and I hear this one is the best and a tearjerker. And, already in theaters is Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan in Karate Kid. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in Knight And Day is also in theaters.

The Wachovia Center is undergoing another name change. By the fall, the center will be renamed The Wells Fargo Center. The name change will happen before the start of the Sixers and Flyers’ seasons. The building opened in 1996 as the CoreStates Center then it became The First Union Center. The building has been named The Wachovia Center since 2003.

On Saturday, June 26th, it’s The Susquehanna Community Festival with Billy Paul, Jean Carne, Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes and Comedian Turae. There will be food, vendors and a gospel pavilion. State Representative Jewell Williams heads up this festival. The festivities run from Broad and Susquehanna to 18th and Susquehanna Avenue. For more information call 215-765-2200.

Congrats to Earth Wind & Fire, Paul Simon and the late Bob Marley. They were recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Jada Pinkett Smith is on the cover of Essence magazine. There are dual covers of Jada. One where she is nude, and one where she has clothes on. Jada says she did the nude photo shoot to celebrate the Body Beautiful issue. Her TV show, HawthoRNe, about a chief nurse officer, is in its second season.

Prince is gracing the cover of Ebony magazine where he talks about his career and religion. He’s also going to be honored at The 10th Annual BET Awards. Prince is getting The Lifetime Achievement Award. Past honorees include Whitney Houston, The Isley Brothers, James Brown and Earth Wind & Fire. Queen Latifah is hosting and the awards air Sunday, June 27th. In addition to the Prince tribute, there will be a tribute to Michael Jackson. Plus performances by Kanye West, T.I., Alicia Keys and Usher. Later this year, look for Queen Latifah to pop up on an episode of the HBO show Entourage.

Morris Day & The Time are coming to Penns Landing. Saturday, June 26th, it’s a free concert and fireworks as part of The Wawa Welcome America Festivities. On The Fourth Of July, it’s The Goo Goo Dolls, The Roots, Chuck Brown and Chrisette Michele.

The Daytime Emmys air on June 27th, and this year they will be honoring TV Legend Dick Clark. Clark, 80, is known as The World’s Oldest Teenager. From his work on American Bandstand to New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and the many shows he produced, he is a TV Icon. In 2004, Clark suffered a stroke, and he rarely makes appearances.

Don’t forget to check out the new TBS series Are We There Yet. It airs Wednesday nights at 9pm. The show is very funny and stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half & Half). The TV show is based on the hit Ice Cube movie of the same name. Ice Cube is the Executive Producer of the TV show.

Venus Williams will be in town Thursday, July 8th signing copies of her new book, Come To Win. She will be at Borders in Center City.

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is being honored at The White House. McCartney is getting the Gershwin Prize For Popular Song from The Library Of Congress. Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae are among those honoring McCartney. The ceremonies will air on PBS July 28th.

The O’Jays will kickoff the new season and the return of the legendary Dell East on Monday, July 12th. They’ll also be profiled on the new season of the TV documentary series Unsung along with Teddy Pendergrass, Tammi Terrell and George Clinton. The new season kicks off this fall. Also get ready for K-Ci and JoJo of Jodeci fame. They are getting a reality show on TV One dealing with their lives, and how they have battled their addictions.

Jennifer Hudson is one busy lady. She has a new album coming out in September, and she’s being profiled on VH1’s Behind The Music. Hudson’s special will air June 28th, and it shows the ups and downs, tragedies and triumphs of her life. And, for the first time, she will talk about the triple murders of her mother, brother and nephew. She will also talk about her fiancé David Otunga and new baby boy, David, Jr. If that weren’t enough, this summer, she will be filming the new movie Winnie. Hudson stars as Winnie Mandela.

Get ready for the return of Dru Hill. Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz and new member Tao have a new reality show that will premiere on the Centric network June 28th, and they have a new album, Indrupendence Day, coming out July 27th.


The Steve Harvey Radio Show is coming to TV. The BET network will be airing The Steve Harvey Radio Show on their Centric network starting this fall. Also, get ready for the return of the TV show The Game. The cancelled CW comedy is being revived on the Bet network with the original cast.

Trey Songz and Monica are gearing up for a summer tour. Songz also has a new reality show debuting on BET on June 27th.

This former Reality Star winner has got her man back. She was dating a married man who kept going back between her and his wife and kids. She recently got him a fancy motorcycle, so now he is with her. Hmmmmmmm!
