A native Philadelphian, Patty Jackson, was born on Monday, November 4th, 1963, and has entered her silver anniversary in broadcasting. She attended South Philadelphia Motivation High School and the American Academy of Broadcasting before embarking on her radio career at WSSJ in Camden, NJ, when it was owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Pat Delsi. Her diverse career has included country, urban and pop formats, including Power 99 FM and Q102. But, her warm and soulful voice found its true home with adult radio listeners on WDAS-FM. Patty is the reigning Queen of Mid-days from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday. Patty’s brand of realness has kept her audience connected throughout her 25-year broadcasting career.

Is Fantasia pregnant? I hear she discusses it in the second season of her reality show. Fantasia is still seeing her married boyfriend Antwaun Cook, and he is going to be a big part in her TV show. Fantasia made the rounds this week promoting her new album back to me, and she admits the stresses of her life made her want to kill herself. The second season of Fantasia For Real premieres September 19th on VH1. I don’t think she’s pregnant. Fantasia needs to wear proper undergarments when she wears tight clothes. Hello Bodymagic! Call ‘Tasia! Antwaun Cook’s wife Paula has turned out to be the hottest talk show get. Everybody wants to hear Mrs. Cook’s side of the story after getting dumped and left with two young children. Everybody from Oprah to Mo’Nique wants Paula to tell her story. Will Mrs. Cook talk?

After 61 years, Joe and Katherine Jackson are calling it quits. Was it the sidejawns, babies outside the marriage, crazy behavior and scams that broke up the two? No! It was Joe accusing Katherine of having a hand in the death of their son Michael Jackson. Katherine was floored when Joe made this statement and said his words were unforgiveable. Joe, 81, also has a problem with money, and she has vowed he is not getting any of her money. Katherine is the legal guardian of Michael’s kids and she is planning to protect them at any cost even it means dumping Joe. Katherine, 80, has had enough of Joe. She has tried to divorce him two times before, but friends say she really means it this time. In other Michael Jackson news, get ready for the new Michael Jackson video game. Soon we will be able to moonwalk, spin and slide like The King Of Pop. The Michael Jackson experience comes out in November, and it will be available in Wii, Xbox, PS3, PSP and DS. If The King Of Pop had lived, he would have been 52 on the 29th. On Saturday, the 28th, join us for our music special celebrating the life and legacy of Michael Jackson, Gone But Not Forgotten. The two-hour special will feature the best of his music and commentary from Kenny Gamble, Jill Scott, El DeBarge, Ruben Studdard, Producer Carvin Haggins and WDAS’ own Butterball. The special airs Saturday from 1pm until 3pm.

The trial date has been set for Dr. Conrad Murray. Is he responsible for the death of Michael Jackson? The involuntary manslaughter trial is set for January 4th, 2011. Murray was Jackson’s personal physician at the time of his death, and admitted administering the lethal dose of propofol.

Bryant Gumbel may be returning to TV. Barbara Walters is putting together a male version of The View, and she’s eyeing Gumbel as the moderator. Gumbel recently guest hosted on The View. ABC is not commenting, but a show is in the works.

Despite his disappointment in his daughter Montana’s decision to become a porn star, Laurence Fishburne is helping her pay her legal bills in regards to an assault charge. Montana Fishburne could face jail time for beating up an ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend. Fishburne is still not speaking to his daughter, but he has hired top lawyers to help her fight these charges.

Elin Nordegren speaks! In the new issue of People magazine, the former Mrs. Tiger Woods tells all in her one and only interview. She went to People to tell her side of the story. Elin says she went through feelings of disbelief, shock and anger when she realized her husband was a serial cheater. She says despite the money …She Got Millions…she says it doesn’t buy happiness, and it won’t repair her broken family. Nordegren and Woods have two children, three year-old daughter Sam and 19 month-old son Charlie.

When will Mariah Carey fess up? She’s pregnant, but Carey is very superstitious, and she will tell all when the time is right. Hubby Nick Cannon has been besieged with calls, but he is keeping her secret.

Vanessa Williams is geared up for the new season of Desperate Housewives. Williams is joining the cast along with Actor Reggie Austin, who plays her basketball player husband.

Chad Ochocinco Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals has landed another reality show. Ochocinco has landed a part on the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives. He’s going to play the love interest of Evelyn Lozada. Ochocinco was recently fined $25,000 for tweeting messages during a preseason football game.

Rapper/Producer Timbaland put his family through a scare this week. Timbaland lost his cool when he realized someone close to him stole a $2 million watch from his home. His family feared the worst when he took off in his escalade. When police found him, they were able to calm him down.

Is Singer Monica a homewrecker? Monica is dating L.A. Laker Shannon Brown. Brown recently left his baby momma to be with the singer after co-starring in her new music video.

Hot new couple alert: Shaquille O’Neal and Reality Star Hoopz! O’Neal is now a Boston Celtic, and many are wondering if the reality star will follow him to Beantown. Hoopz has been around, to say the least, so it will be interesting to see if she follows Shaq! The latest buzz had the two engaged with Shaq proposing to her in Tennessee.

A planned Usher/Chris Brown tour has been scrapped. Usher is gearing up for the release of his new album Versus.

Mark your calendars for January 12, 2011. That’s when Tyler Perry’s latest movie, For Colored Girls, hits theatres. The film stars Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Kimberly Elise and Whoopi Goldberg.

Now speaking of Whoopi, she has a new book coming out called Is It Just Me. In the book, Goldberg says what’s on her mind. Goldberg even talks about style saying she loves being comfortable. The book comes out in October.

The Best Of Gerald Levert is a collection of his greatest hits and will be out on the 31st. The CD features the latest hit Can It Stay along with his solo hits, his duets and his work with the groups LSG and Levert.

Iyanla Van Zandt has a new book coming out in November called Peace From Broken Pieces: How To Get Through What You’re Going Through. Van Zandt is returning to the literary world after suffering the loss of her daughter and the end of her marriage.

Lauryn Hill is hard at work on a new album. After a decade of madness, things seem to be settling down in her world, and she is ready to take her place at the top of the music charts.

Sherri Shepherd has been named the new host of The Newlywed Game. The new revival of the classic series kicks off this November airing weeknights at 6pm on the Game Show Network.

Ron Isley says he’s excited about the release of his new CD, Mr. I. The album features Isley teaming up with Lauryn Hill, Rapper T.I. and The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin. With his jail time and tax issues behind him, Isley says he is excited about his new project.

Jimmy Fallon is hosting the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards. The show airs August 29th at 8pm on NBC. Scheduled presenters include Laurence Fishburne, Blair Underwood, and LL Cool J.

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien is back with another installment of her Black In America specials. This time the focus is the black church, and airs October 21st.

TV One presents For One Night Only: The Essence Music Fest on Sunday, August 29th at 9pm featuring performances by Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight and Mary J. Blige.

The Best Of Soul Train DVD arrives in stores September 7th.

El DeBarge has turned his life around, and he has a new CD coming out on September 28th. After a 22-year crack addiction and a prison stint, El has returned with a new lease on life. On the CD, Second Chance, DeBarge teams up with Babyface and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

The third season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta returns October 4th on the Bravo network. Lisa Wu Hartwell is leaving the show, Nene Leakes is having marital problems and new cast members are coming aboard.

Faith Evans had a rough weekend. The 37-year old singer was arrested and charged with suspicion of drunk driving. Evans was in Los Angeles for a video shoot when she was stopped by the cops. They impounded her car, and she was held for hours. Evans was then released, and returned to finish her video. Evans’ latest project, Something About Faith, arrives in stores this October. It’s been five years since she has released a CD. The first single, Gone Already, has just been released. In a tweet message, Evans assured her fans she was okay. Is Keyshia Cole married, and where has she been? According to friends, she married longtime love Daniel Boobie Gibson, is busy being a mother to their son and is working on a new project.

Basketball Legend Michael Jordan may have to talk with his sons. They took to twitter to talk about their wild adventures, including spending over $56,000 on booze and women. Marcus and Jeffrey Jordan love the blondes and the booze. In a recent two-day spree in Vegas, they blew their money.

Kimora Lee Simmons is looking for a change, so she has decided to leave Baby Phat and the Phat Farm fashion companies. Kimora says she wants to pursue other ventures. She recently wrapped up filming a fourth season of her reality show Life In The Fab Lane.

Eagles Backup Quarterback Michael Vick says no more reality TV for him. Vick felt uncomfortable with all the cameras following him, so he has pulled the plug on his BET reality show.

Longtime CBS News Correspondent Harold Dow died over the weekend. Dow was part of the CBS News organization for 37 years. He is known for his standout interviews, including O.J. Simpson and Patty Heart, and his acclaimed reporting on assassinated Civil Rights Leader Medgar Evers. Dow died from an asthma attack at the age of 62.

Cougar Alert! Actress Taraji P. Henson is dating Rapper Drake…the two are enjoying each other’s company…...meanwhile, Vivica A. Fox is back with her young party promoter boyfriend known as Slimm. Despite his temper tantrums, he loves how she spends money on him.

The Situation and The Hoff are gearing up for Dancing With The Stars. Jersey Shore is the hottest show on TV, and The Situation is cashing in big time by dancing on the new season. The 11th season of Dancing With The Stars will also feature David Hasselhoff, and Singer Brandy is also in discussions to join the show. The new season kicks of September 20th.

Speaking of Brandy, she’s being sued again. Brandy is being sued by DJ Marc Mysterio for not fulfilling a music agreement. Mysterio says he paid Brandy $10,000 a month to write and record music for him. He says she never did it and just took his money.

Queen Latifah is teaming up with Dolly Parton for a gospel film. Joyful Noise is a movie musical about two women who come together to save a small town gospel choir. The rapper/actress and the country queen join forces on the silver screen when the movie arrives in theatres in 2012.

Patti LaBelle is headed to Broadway. She will be playing the mother of the lead character in the musical Fela! LaBelle starts September 14th, and will be in the production through the first of the year.

Steve Harvey’s new book Straight Talk, No Chaser: How To Find, Keep And Understand A Man is due in bookstores this fall. It’s the follow up to his bestseller Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man.

The TV ONE Unsung series returns on September 13th. The new season includes music documentaries on Teddy Pendergrass, Tammi Terrell, Heatwave, George Clinton, The O’Jays, Angela Winbush, The Fat Boys, Musical Youth and Miki Howard.


Congrats to Chaka Khan! Khan is being honored at the 32nd Annual UNCF telethon, An Evening Of Stars. The show airs in syndication January 2011.

Rosie O’Donnell is joining the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). No other network would touch O’Donnell after The View debacle, but Oprah came knocking on O’Donnell’s door. The Mighty O convinced her to join OWN. The network debuts January of next year but has limited content. Oprah does not sign on herself officially until after September 2011. So far Gayle King, Shania Twain, Julia Roberts and Forest Whitaker have all signed on for shows and documentaries. O’Donnell is getting a daily show that will be reminiscent of her earlier solo daytime talker.

Speaking of the Mighty O, it’s going to be a long farewell as Oprah says goodbye to daytime TV. Winfrey steps down September of 2011, and she is already running a goodbye video. The new season, the 25th and final season, of The Oprah Winfrey Show kicks off September 13th. Oprah talks about her top 25 OMG moments in the new issue of TV Guide.

At the movies this week, it’s the movie Takers with T.I., Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Chris Brown, Matt Dillon, Michael Ealy and Zoe Saldana. I had a chance to interview T.I when he came to town, and he says the cast had a lot of fun making this movie. He says it’s the kind of movie where you find yourself rooting for the bad guy.

Speaking of Takers, Co-star Idris Elba is also going to be the Honorary Chairperson along with Jimmy Rollins at this year’s Philly’s Men Are Cooking taking place Saturday, November 27th. I’ll keep you posted with more details later.

September 20th is the start date for the Holly Robinson’s daytime talk show debut. The show, simply called The Talk, will also feature Sharon Osborne and Moderator Julie Chen with a host of other women, a la The View.

Will Downing latest project Love Lust And Lies arrives in stores September 14th.

The MTV Video Music Awards are set for September 12th. Kanye West returns, and he says he is a new man. Last year, West made a fool of himself when he went on stage while Country Sensation Taylor Swift was accepting her prize. West snatched her Moonman out of her hands. He later apologized. This year he will be performing. Chelsea Handler is hosting, and she says she wants to bring Kanye and Swift together again.

The NBC network is gearing up for some exciting new shows, and they are bringing the hunks. Blair Underwood will play the President Of The United States in the suspense filled drama The Event, which airs on Monday nights beginning September 20th. Check out Underwood on the new issue of Jet Magazine. Boris Kodjoe will be starring with Gugu Mbatha-Raw as husband and wife in the action drama Undercovers, which will air on Wednesday nights beginning September 22nd.

State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams is hosting the 21st Annual Neighborhood To Neighborhood Festival beginning at 11am on Saturday, September 4th. The festivities stretch along Baltimore Avenue from 49th to 52nd Street. Chrisette Michele, Macy Gray, Tamika Patton and The Urban Guerilla Orchestra are performing, and I’ll be broadcasting live.

The YMCA is hosting their Appreciation Day beginning at 10am on Saturday, September 18th at the West Philly Chapter on Chestnut Street, between 51st and 52nd. I’ll be broadcasting live.

The 23rd Annual Soul Train Awards will air on November 28th.

Terry McMillan’s long awaited sequel to Waiting To Exhale is called Getting To Happy, and it arrives in bookstores September 7th. McMillan is coming to town on Wednesday, September 8th. She is doing a booksigning that night at the Free Library of Philadelphia, 19th and Vine Streets.
